German States

For the assignment on German states, our group was assigned with three states: Hesse, North-Rhine Westphalia and Rhineland Palatine. I and Ella worked and presented on the state of Hesse and Derek presented on Rhineland Palatine while Jason and Anne presented about North-Rhine Westphalia. Below are the PowerPoint files we used for our presentation.

My Expectations for German 110

After taking some world history courses in high school, I have been pretty
enthusiastic about the German history, culture, language and economy.
Being a Finance major, I have been more interested in the financial sector of Germany, as it houses one of the world's largest financial hubs in the city of Frankfurt. With headquarters of many global financial institutions including Deutsche Bank, Frankfurt also has the presence of one of the world's largest capital markets. In addition to these, I am a huge fan of the German soccer team with noted players like Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose and Lucas Podolski, to name a few. Because of these reasons and interests, I thought of taking a German course.

From this course, I hope to learn various aspects of Germany including historical, geographic, social as well as the economic sectors, which I believe will come handy, if I ever happen to travel to Germany in the future.
